Hadhramout University Delivers the First Batch of “Employment, Reduction, and Addition Decrees” to Faculty Members and Their Assistants

Under the patronage of the President of Hadhramout University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, Bakathir Hall at the university hosted today a general assembly meeting for faculty members and their assistants, dedicated to the distribution of the first batch of employment, reduction, and addition decrees for academics across various academic ranks—marking a milestone that crowns years of sustained effort.

In his opening address, the University President reviewed the extensive follow-up undertaken on this long-standing file, which spans more than thirteen years, beginning in 2012, when the first list comprising thirty-three faculty members was submitted. He explained that despite the challenges and changing political circumstances, the university leadership continued its diligent efforts until achieving this milestone today, securing sixty-four employment decrees as the first batch. He noted that this accomplishment places Hadhramout University at the forefront of institutions that have successfully concluded this file with professionalism and composure, away from media sensationalism.

Prof. Dr. Khanbash further stated that the university is currently calculating the total financial cost of the reduction and addition process, in preparation for submitting it to the Presidential Leadership Council member and Governor of Hadhramout, Dr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, in order to obtain directives addressed to the new government and the Ministries of Civil Service and Finance. He confirmed that the file of new academic appointments will be followed up on again in April, with full commitment to resolving the status of eighteen faculty members whose salaries are already covered by the university but who require decrees to adjust differences in academic rank. In addition, fifty-six faculty members from other institutions will have their financial allocations scheduled and processed.

He reaffirmed the university’s unwavering commitment to pursuing all outstanding employment rights for both academic and administrative staff.

The University President expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Civil Service and Insurance, his deputy, the ministry’s leadership and staff, as well as the General Secretariat and representatives of the Faculty Contracted Staff Union, in recognition of their collective efforts in achieving this milestone.

For her part, Dr. Doaa Salem Ba-Wazir, faculty member and representative of the Reduction and Addition file, expressed her gratitude to the University President for his continuous support, cooperation, and facilitation in overcoming challenges, describing the occasion as a “historic moment.” She also commended the specialized committees for their professionalism, transparency, and integrity in handling this responsibility.

Dr. Ba-Wazir emphasized that this achievement further strengthens Hadhramout University’s distinguished standing at both the local and regional levels, affirming its commitment to its academic community. She added that securing the outcomes of the reduction and addition process, along with the regularization of contracted staff, came after strenuous efforts, granting academic personnel renewed motivation to contribute to the advancement of this prestigious academic institution. She concluded by expressing faculty members’ pride in belonging to Hadhramout University.

In the same context, Mr. Raafat Khaled Bin Taleb, President of the Faculty Contracted Staff Union, expressed his satisfaction with the solidarity demonstrated by all parties in supporting academics, describing the occasion as a long-awaited entitlement and recognition of continuous academic dedication despite prevailing challenges. He extended his gratitude to the university leadership, represented by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Abdullah Saleh Ba-Baqeer, and Secretary-General Mr. Abdullah Alawi Eideed, praising their persistent engagement with the Ministries of Civil Service and Higher Education.

He also acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Wajdi Mohammed Al-Junaidi for his dedicated follow-up on issues related to the university and its staff, as well as the contributions of the union’s team members and retired supporters. He affirmed that the union will continue its advocacy until all legitimate employment rights are secured, stressing that academic work is a noble mission worthy of dedication and sacrifice. He congratulated those included in the employment decrees and expressed hope that these appointments would contribute to strengthening academic excellence and institutional stability.

This achievement constitutes a fundamental pillar in Hadhramout University’s strategy to enhance job stability for its academic and administrative staff, pending the completion of the remaining administrative and financial procedures with the relevant authorities to ensure that all employees receive their rightful entitlements in the coming phases.
