Women Faculty at Hadhramout University Organize a Scientific Seminar on “Women in Leadership and Combating Workplace Violence”

Under the gracious patronage of the Hadhramout University President, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, the Women’s Faculty organized a scientific seminar entitled “Women in Leadership and Their Role in Community Development and Combating Workplace Violence.” The seminar was held as part of the college’s awareness initiatives aimed at empowering women and enhancing their leadership capacities.

The event featured two academic lectures. In her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Najat Ahmed Bosab’a, delivered a welcoming address in which she emphasized the vital role of academic institutions in fostering safe working environments and supporting women’s empowerment and leadership advancement.

The first lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Fathiya Mohammed Bahashwan, Director of the Center for Human and Social Studies. She addressed the concept of workplace violence in its various forms, highlighting its psychological and social repercussions. She also outlined effective prevention and response strategies that contribute to promoting positive and safe work environments.

The second lecture was presented by Dr. Eman Lahmdi, who highlighted the pivotal role of women leaders in achieving sustainable community development. She underscored the importance of increasing women’s participation in decision-making positions and presented inspiring examples of successful women leaders across various fields.

Strong Engagement and Notable Attendance

The seminar witnessed strong engagement from students of the Social Work and English Language departments at the Women’s Faculty, who actively interacted with the topics discussed, reflecting the relevance of the seminar’s themes in raising awareness and building essential leadership and professional skills.

The seminar was organized by the Center for Human and Social Studies and the Women’s Center at Hadhramout University, in collaboration with and with support from the Al-Amal Women’s Cultural and Social Foundation.

The event was attended by Dr. Fatima Abdullah Bahadila, Vice Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Arwa Abdullah Baawidhan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Open Education and Director of the Family and Community Development Unit; along with several faculty members from the participating departments.
