The Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center at Hadhramout University concluded yesterday the first training course titled “Effective Measurement and Evaluation in Higher Education”, as part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational outcomes.

The course, which brought together a number of faculty members and specialists in the field, aimed to equip participants with the skills needed to design and implement accurate and effective assessment systems capable of measuring students’ actual learning outcomes. It further sought to enhance the quality of teaching by highlighting modern measurement and evaluation methods that contribute to improving instructional strategies and developing academic curricula, while aligning with best practices and supporting the University’s aspiration to rank among leading Arab universities through sustainable improvement mechanisms.

It is noteworthy that this course is not an isolated activity; rather, it forms part of a broader, active program implemented by the Center. Over the past two years, the Center has organized dozens of events, including training courses, workshops, and lectures covering topics such as “Examination Systems and Student Assessment,” “Designing and Constructing Questionnaires,” and “Measuring and Evaluating the Quality of Academic Programs.”

The objectives of the course also align with the University’s strategic direction, reaffirmed recently by its President, which emphasizes elevating the University’s standing and sustaining academic development.

Through the implementation of such specialized training programs, Hadhramout University reiterates its commitment to upholding quality standards in higher education. The “Effective Measurement and Evaluation” course represents a practical step toward empowering academic staff with tools that keep pace with contemporary educational developments—positively reflecting on the preparedness of graduates and the University’s institutional reputation.
