Dr. Mohammed Al-Ahmadi, the Cultural Attaché of Yemen in China, conducted an official visit to Dalian Medical University, one of China’s leading specialized medical institutions. The visit came in response to an official invitation from the university and was coordinated with the presidents of the Universities of Aden, Taiz, and Hadhramaut.
Upon his arrival, he was received by Prof. Li Xiaodong, Dean of the School of International Students, and Deputy Dean Guo Yanqiu. A comprehensive meeting was held to discuss mechanisms for strengthening academic and scientific cooperation. During the meeting, Dr. Al-Ahmadi presented an overview of the medical faculties’ capabilities at the three Yemeni universities, offering a detailed introduction to their academic programs. This presentation was met with considerable interest from the Chinese side, which expressed its readiness to study the proposals submitted and to explore potential avenues for collaboration.
The university announced its willingness to offer short-term medical fellowship opportunities for Yemeni physicians and postgraduate students. It also expressed support for admitting self-funded Yemeni students who wish to pursue their studies in English, and affirmed its commitment to providing the required facilities, particularly given that five Yemeni students are currently enrolled through this pathway.
On the sidelines of the visit, Dr. Al‑Ahmadi met with the 22 Yemeni students studying at the university, reviewed their academic situation, and listened to their suggestions, reaffirming his commitment to closely follow up on their needs.
This visit comes as part of the efforts of the Yemeni Cultural Attaché to enhance the international presence of Yemeni higher education and to build strategic partnerships that contribute to developing Yemeni medical professionals and improving the quality of medical education in alignment with global standards.
It is worth noting that the visit was conducted in response to an invitation extended to Dr. Al‑Ahmadi by Dalian Medical University.
