4th Level Students of the Marine Biology Department on a Field Visit to Al-Shihr

The fourth-level students, staff members, and their assistants in the Marine Biology Department visited Al-Shihr City on Friday, 20th October. They got acquainted with many targeted fish species for fishing with the equipment and conducted the practical work of fishing equipment and methods. In addition, they explained some examples of improper use of fishing equipment and their negative impact on the marine environment. It also highlighted the most important legislation of the Ministry of Fisheries Wealth to mitigate the negative effects on the environment and marine life.

Furthermore, they got acquainted with the types of fishing boats, their sizes, components, and their productive capacity in fishing. Dr. Jafar bin Omar Baamer, the head of the Marine Biology Department, and Mr. Mustafa Salem Baredi, a staff member in the department, accompanied the students through this scientific visit.

These activities are part of the plans and programs of the Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology faculty to provide students with knowledge and experiences and to link the scientific aspect with the practical aspect of the labor market.
