As part of the technical webinar series organised by the World Health
Organisation (WHO) on various topics related to climate change and health,
aimed at building implementation capacity at the country level, a webinar was
held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 09:30 to 11:00 Central European Time.
The session provided an overview of the WHO Operational Framework for
building climate-resilient and low-carbon health systems. Originally published in
2014, the framework has recently been updated to include guidance on
integrating low-carbon pathways into health systems. It serves as a key tool for

countries to plan and implement actions related to climate change and health.
The framework supports countries in enhancing the resilience of their health
systems to protect and improve community health in an increasingly unstable
and changing climate while optimising resource use and reducing greenhouse gas
emissions. It also contributes to the design of transformative health systems
capable of delivering safe and high-quality care in the face of climate change.
The session featured country-level experiences in applying the framework, along
with interactive activities and small group discussions.
Representing Hadhramout University, Prof. Dr. Khaled Bawahidi, Director of
the Environmental Centre, participated in the webinar.
