As part of the ongoing awareness campaign on the dangers of plastic—funded by the Silah Foundation for Development and implemented by the Center for Environmental Studies and Water Resources at Hadhramout University—a lecture was held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Al-Ghalilah Campus of Hadhramout University. The awareness lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Bawadi, who focused on the environmental hazards of plastic in general, and its specific impacts on human health. He also addressed the societal problems caused by plastic pollution and shared valuable information that prompted active student engagement through questions and discussions.
The session included student interventions highlighting the current reality of plastic pollution, to which Dr. Bawadi responded by offering practical solutions.
The lecture was inaugurated by Prof. Ghazi Mathna Al-Rashidi, Dean of the Faculty of Science at Hadhramout University, who welcomed the delegation from the Center, represented by Prof. Khaled Saleh Bawazir (Director of the Center), Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Bawadi, and Dr. Salah Abdullah Bin Farijan. Prof. Al-Rashidi encouraged students to participate actively and benefit from the session.
The delegation was received by Prof. Ghazi Al-Rashidi, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. Kamal Baoum, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; and Ms. Muneera Bawadi, Activities Coordinator at the academic complex.
After the event, Prof. Khaled Bawazir, Director of the Center, expressed his appreciation to the students for their engagement and urged them to share the knowledge they had gained with their communities and to implement even a portion of the lessons learned. He also reiterated his gratitude to the Faculty leadership for their warm hospitality and excellent organization.
