The Center for Environmental Studies and Water Resources at Hadhramout University held a virtual meeting today with the Dutch Embassy in Amman, represented by Ms. Wenny van der Wal, First Secretary, to discuss the launch of a strategic partnership in environmental and water-related fields.
During the meeting—which was attended by Prof. Khalid Bawahidi, Director of the Center, along with several academic staff members—the two sides explored avenues of collaboration with Dutch universities to utilize advanced technologies such as remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS). The goal is to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of water resource management in Wadi Hajar, and to initiate joint scientific research.
Ms. van der Wal expressed her enthusiasm for working with the Center and recommended extending an official invitation to participate in the upcoming international meeting scheduled for December 15, 2025, aimed at developing a joint framework and building research and educational partnerships, particularly in water management and capacity building.
Prof. Bawahidi revealed an initiative to train local professionals on the advanced Wafer program, noting that the meeting concluded with great optimism and a preliminary agreement to move forward in strengthening this promising collaboration.
