“The Center for Environmental Studies and Water Resources at Hadhramout University and the Youth Initiative ‘SahSah’ Sign a Strategic Partnership Agreement to Promote Scientific Research and Environmental Awareness”

The Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Hall at Hadhramout University witnessed today the signing of a strategic scientific and research cooperation agreement between the Center for Environmental Studies and Water Resources at Hadhramout University and the youth-led initiative “SahSah.” This initiative aims to strengthen integration between academic institutions and community-based initiatives in addressing environmental issues, climate change, and sustainable development.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Center by Prof. Dr. Khaled Saleh Bawahidi, Director of the Center, and on behalf of the “SahSah” platform by Ms. Mona Salem Al-Mashjari, Executive Director of the initiative. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Salah Abdullah Bin Freijan, Head of the Department of Environmental and Water Resources Research at the Center, and Ms. Layal Talal Bahaj, Director of Public Relations at “SahSah.”

The agreement, which spans three years and is subject to renewal, establishes a general framework for joint collaboration in applied scientific research, technical consultancy, environmental studies, youth capacity building, and community awareness on pressing environmental issues.

According to the terms of the agreement, both parties will collaborate on the following:

  1. Exchange of Expertise and Consultation: Developing implementation plans for joint environmental research and studies, and sharing technical data and information.
  2. Capacity Building: Engaging youth members from “SahSah” and academic professionals from the Center in research and training projects to enhance their skills.
  3. Training and Qualification: Organizing specialized training and technical programs in environmental and scientific fields.
  4. Project Implementation: Joint preparation and execution of applied environmental projects that serve the local community in Hadhramout Governorate.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khaled Saleh Bawahidi stated: “This agreement aligns with the university’s mission and the role of its scientific centers in serving the community and fostering effective partnerships with promising youth initiatives such as ‘SahSah,’ which we consider a strategic partner in achieving our environmental goals.”

In turn, Ms. Mona Salem Al-Mashjari expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, saying: “We at ‘SahSah’ are delighted to collaborate with a leading center like the Center for Environmental Studies. This step will open new horizons for youth interested in environmental affairs to actively contribute to scientific and applied research, enabling us to transfer knowledge from the university to the field and provide our initiative with significant scientific momentum.”

This agreement represents a model of constructive collaboration between academic institutions and community initiatives. It paves the way for pioneering projects that address environmental challenges amid climate change and supports the development of a young generation capable of leading sustainable development efforts in Hadhramout Governorate.
