The Political Forum for Hadhramout University students organized an Evening entitled (Politics and the Community) in the Volunteers Club Hall, in partnership with the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Arts, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saeed Khanbesh, President of Hadhramout University. The Evening discussed three main themes: 1) (How do we understand politics?) by Dr. Saleh Ali bin Medshall, Head of the Department of Political Sciences at the Faculty of Arts, 2) (The role of political elites in leading the democratic transformation) by Dr. Murad Ba’Alawi, a Ph.D. holder in Political Sciences, and 3) (Community and the world of politics) by Muhammed Bafaqeer.
These research papers reviewed the meaning of politics linguistically, terminologically, philosophically and realistically, as well as the political discourse and its lack of ability to be translated into action. In the second theme, the Evening reviewed the language of politics and the essence of political difference and disputable political action. And the last one discussed the role of political elites in leading the democratic transition, as well as a clarification of the concept of political elite, and the reasons that make the transitional phase falters in Yemen.
In the Evening, a number of questions posed by attendees, and the lecturers answered all of them .
It is worth mentioning that the political forum for students of Hadhramout University aims to qualify students professionally to acquire some library and cognitive skills necessary for political action , to contribute to create the spirit of work among students of political sciences through participating in seminars, conferences and panel discussions to develop student skills in analysing the course of local and international political events, to provide the community with qualified scientific cadres in the field of politics, and to establish the Hadhramaut Center for Research , Strategic and Political Studies.
The Evening was attended by: Prof. Dr. Mohammed Barshid, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, a number of faculty members and a large group of students from the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Arts at Hadhramout University
