On behalf of the presidents of public and private universities in Yemen, Hadhramout University President Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash gave a speech on the pain, suffering and challenges facing Yemeni universities in general, and the public ones in particular.

During the opening session of the workshop that was held in Mukalla, HU President addressed major issues as follows:

Poor infrastructure and the lack of regulations of e-learning programs.

Insufficient  budgets for Yemeni universities for over five years, which has been the reason for not implementing many academic and research activities.

Emigration of outstanding faculty members and assistants due to the unstable conditions and low salaries in Yemen compared to neighboring countries.

Serious lack of faculty members due to natural and early retirement as well as not providing any academic or administrative positions since 2014, including the employment of top graduates.

Settlements of faculty members and their assistants.

The workshop was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Hussein Abdulrahman Baslama, and a number of faculty members and assistants from various public and private universities in Yemen.
