The work of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, in its fifty-fourth session, was launched yesterday, Sunday at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the presence of Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, President of the Association of Arab Universities, Dr. Wajih Owais, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Minister of Education in Jordan, and Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, members of the Association of Arab Universities, and representatives of Arab and international organizations.
Where Prof. Mohammad Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramaut University, participated in the 54th session of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, held at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, from 27-28 March.
Dr. Khanbash described his participation as an opportunity through which he will meet with a number of heads of Arab universities and presented Hadhramout University view in the session and its visions towards the various fields that will be the subject of this session, adding that the role of Hadhramaut University has become prominent, especially since the university has become one of the universities that are steadily advancing in the fields Various scientific in order to enhance its regional and international presence.
“Association of Arab Universities had emerged from a real need that has been demonstrated by developments in societies in consolidating international efforts, devising solutions and projects that promote human beings and provide them with well-being and protection, as well as by changes in the world, particularly in the field of scientific research and academic work ” Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, General Secretary of the Association of Arab Universities, said. Also, he explained that this can basically answer questions that some officials and professors of Arab universities may have about the Association of universities. What does the Association of Arab Universities mean? And why was it found? What is the importance of joining the Federation of Arab Universities?
He continued: “The Association of Arab efforts is not a superfluous act, nor a luxuries of society. Rather, it is a necessity required by belonging to the nation, touching the real feeling of every Arab person who believes in the unity of feeling and destiny. Today, the Association represents an interface that seeks, through its projects and strategy, to build research trends towards a knowledge society, invest the innovations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the artificial intelligence environment, raise the level of projects that the region needs in the present and the future, and prepare graduates for new jobs commensurate with the tremendous changes in the world.
And about the activities of the Association , Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, pointed out that based on the strategic plan in 2019-2030, the Association seeks to increase partnerships between universities in the region and with universities in other regions of the world in order to influence reality, promote and support scientific research, production of knowledge and innovation within universities, expand and strengthen the implementation of quality assurance, accreditation systems and regional and international recognition of degrees awarded by Arab universities, provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills, align university governance and operational policies with sustainable development goals, and then facilitate dialogue between different sectors.
The Secretary-General has stated that the Federation of Arab Universities and its member Arab Universities is keen to support and coordinate scientific, academic and research efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development in our Arab countries and is working with Arab universities to organize scientific efforts to overcome the obstacles of the stage and deal with difficult conditions with scientific and positive insights.
It was essential to join forces with Arab action, especially in the context of the conditions that the world was witnessing everywhere. , it was now crucial to bring together Arab scientific efforts and coordinate institutions in order to achieve the best relations between the institutions of the one nation and to find the best options that would contribute to the progress and prosperity of our Arab societies, he added.
Also, the Association of Arab Universities stems from being an important ground for raising the level of Arab universities to the world and opening new horizons in the field of international relations, and as a front to show the true location of the Arab scientific effort, and keenness to make more strategic efforts to provide a scientific product that is practically reflected in building the Arab society, And to provide solutions to various social, political, health and economic problems. He noted that the Union’s projects that it is working on focus on Arab Council for Classification of Universities, the Arab Leagues Development Project, the Arab Qualifications Framework Project, the Arab Impact Factor, the Arab University Certificates Documentation System, the Federation’s Associations and Councils, the Quality Assurance Council, agreements, partnerships and Federation awards.
