Hadhramout University organized the annual graduation ceremony in the hall of Ali Hood Baabad, at the University Presidency. The 26th annual graduation ceremony for the university year 2023-2024, sponsored by the Governor of Hadhramout governorate Mr. Mubarak bin Madi
The ceremony commenced with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from Governor Bin Madi. He praised the leadership and faculty of Hadhramout University for their unwavering efforts in advancing higher education. The Governor emphasized the importance of unity in elevating Hadhramout and fulfilling the aspirations of its people, describing the region as one that takes pride in its history, heritage, scholars, and culture. He stated, “Today, we gather in the city of peace, Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramout, to celebrate the 26th graduation ceremony of Hadhramout University – the University of Generations, encompassing the past, present, and future. “On behalf of the local and national government leadership, represented by His Excellency Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Governor extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates. He noted that since its establishment, Hadhramout University has produced 45,960 graduates across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. Governor Bin Madi commended the relentless dedication of educators in general, and university educators in particular, pledging continued support from the local government to help the university achieve its mission and vision for society .
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, Hadhramout University President, highlighted the institution’s steady progress toward a promising future, despite the current challenging circumstances. He expressed gratitude to the faculty and staff for their dedicated efforts, emphasizing the university’s commitment to adapting to societal needs through innovative programs. The university currently offers 66 postgraduate programs and continues to foster the holistic development of its students through diverse extracurricular activities spanning 12 fields of knowledge. It also promotes student clubs, scientific associations, and the cultivation of talent in arts and sports. Prof. Dr. Khanbash further noted that Hadhramout University has established academic collaborations with nearly 100 universities worldwide, with its graduates achieving notable success both locally and internationally. The university has secured a distinguished position, ranking first among public universities and second nationally, while making advancements in global academic platforms. He called for the swift completion of the first phase of the university campus construction in Fuwa and urged the implementation of presidential directives to approve faculty promotions, address staff grievances, and allocate positions for university personnel .
In a speech on behalf of the graduates, student Sarah Yaslam Badawi expressed gratitude for a result of the efforts and the boundless dedication of the faculty. She pledged that the graduates would honor their alma mater by applying the knowledge they acquired to positively impact their communities and the nation .
The ceremony included a musical performance titled “Hadhramout: A Tale of Knowledge and Pride,” presented by the university’s Arts Club. This performance celebrated Hadhramout’s rich history and highlighted the pride of both the university and its graduates, earning admiration from attendees .
The event concluded with the Governor, the University President, deputies, and college deans honoring the top 475 graduates, including those who graduated with distinction, from a total of 2,066 students in the 26th cohort across various colleges.
