Hadhramout University Organizes an International Symposium on Journalistic Practices in the Era of Technology

This morning, Hadhramout University Presidency organized an international symposium on journalistic practices in the era of technological development at the Academic Development Hall of the university, with the presence of the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, along with a number of academics and media professionals.

The symposium, skillfully moderated by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Saleh Babair, Vice President for Academic Affairs, featured four scientific research papers addressing contemporary media issues related to technological and digital transformations in the journalism profession.

The first session began with a paper entitled:
“The Role of Official Media in Combating Rumors on Social Media Platforms,”
presented by Prof. Dr. Chafik Ikoufan, Professor of Higher Education in Media and Communication at Mouloud Mammeri University – Algeria, which discussed the impact and harm of rumors in media channels.

The second paper, entitled:
“Digital Journalism and the Transition from Print to Online: A Strategy for Success,”
was presented by Dr. Adeeb Al-Shatari, Associate Professor of Journalism at Hadhramout University.

The third paper was titled:
“The Future of Digital Journalism in Light of Artificial Intelligence and Its Commitment – A Foresight Perspective,”
presented by Prof. Dr. Khuzaym Al-Khalidi, Professor of Radio and Television at Yarmouk University – Jordan, and Director of Yarmouk University Radio.

The symposium concluded with the fourth paper:
“Artificial Intelligence, Digital Ethics, and the New Media Landscape: The Future of Journalism and Public Relations,”
presented by Dr. Mokhtaruddin Ahmad, Associate Professor and Faculty Dean of Applied Communication at Multimedia University – Malaysia.

The event witnessed extensive scientific discussions among attendees and participants, focusing on the role of technology in reshaping media practices and the challenges of maintaining professional ethics amid rapid digital development.

The symposium concluded with recommendations emphasizing the importance of promoting scientific research in digital media fields and encouraging academic cooperation between Arab and international universities to exchange expertise in developing media education.
