With hearts believing in Allah’s will and destiny, and with words of condolence, the leadership of Hadhramout University, members of its council, academic staff and their assistants, and students mourn the passing of Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Bamataraf, former Hadhramout University President and a distinguished national academic figure, who passed away this Saturday morning after a long and remarkable career dedicated to serving the homeland, higher education, and scientific research.

His departure represents a great loss for the nation and for our university in particular, where he devoted decades of tireless effort as an exemplary academic—wise, sincere, and principled—carrying the concerns of his country and his community.

Throughout his career, the late professor held prominent leadership positions, leaving an indelible mark in each. Whether during his tenure as President of the Agricultural Research Authority, his service as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, or his presidency of Hadhramout University, he played a pivotal role in advancing academic and research development and driving progress forward.

His contributions were not confined to the local level; his influence extended regionally and internationally, especially during his service as Yemen’s representative and later as Regional Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), where he made significant efforts to promote food security and agricultural development.

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
