Student competitions continued on Tuesday as part of the Inter- Faculty Sports Championship at Hadhramout University, featuring table tennis and chess tournaments for both male and female students. These events are being held as part of the activities of the Fifteenth University Student Week for the year 2026, hosted at Prof. Dr. Ali Hood Ba‘bad Hall at the University Presidency, under the generous patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, with the participation of 132 players representing all university faculties.

Second-round matches in both table tennis and chess commenced amid considerable student attendance and intense competition among the faculties.

The late Ba‘bad Sports Hall witnessed enthusiastic highly competitive table tennis matches for both male and female categories, during which several players from participating colleges advanced to the quarterfinals following matches characterized by high momentum, skill, and competitiveness.

In the chess competitions, rounds intensified among representatives of the colleges under a single round-robin system, with several faculties emerging strongly after achieving advanced results, as two decisive rounds remain to determine the final standings.

In this context, Mr. Naif Bawazir, Head of the Sports Committee of the University Student Week at Hadhramout University, affirmed that the championship aims to promote sportsmanship and identify student talents. He praised the high level of organization, officiating, and teams’ adherence to competition regulations.

It is scheduled that the table tennis and chess competitions will conclude on Wednesday, with the winners to be officially honored during the closing ceremony of the Fifteenth University Student Week for the year 2026.
