HU President Inaugurates the Master’s Program in Petroleum Engineering and Architecture for the Academic Year 2023-2024

The inauguration ceremony took place in the conference hall of the Engineering and Petroleum Faculty under the patronage of the President of Hadhramout University.

During the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, the President of the University, extended congratulations and best wishes to the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum for the opening of this Master’s program in Petroleum Engineering and Architecture, as it is one of the first faculties at the university since its establishment. He urged other departments in the faculty to make efforts to launch postgraduate programs in the coming period, especially since the academic year 2023-2024 is a year of opening postgraduate studies programs at the university. He emphasized that the Faculty of Engineering will witness transformations and developments that keep pace with scientific and academic progress. He also mentioned that postgraduate studies have witnessed significant development, with 21 programs in 2016 and more than 60 programs now, in addition to the doctoral programs opened in the university’s faculties. He highlighted that this first experience of postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Engineering will be successful due to the extensive and diverse experiences of the staff members and students, which will develop the faculty’s outcomes in the coming years.

Prof. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, emphasized that these programs are among the most significant engineering specializations that serve the community. He confirmed that more than 1,000 male and female students graduated in various disciplines from the university in 2022, and currently, 66 postgraduate programs provide the community with specialized cadres. He thanked the President of Hadhramout University for his support of these programs, which contributed to their development. He also congratulated the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum and all its members for achieving this accomplishment that reflects the progress and advancement of the faculty and the university. He wished success and prosperity to the students enrolled in these programs.

Prof. Salem Bamoumen, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum at Hadhramout University, stated that today is the launching of the first two programs for postgraduate studies in Petroleum Engineering and Architecture with 30 students. The inauguration of programs in other specializations will follow in the upcoming period. He pointed out that the faculty is currently working on completing all the procedures and requirements to open the Civil Engineering program in the coming period, within the framework of the faculty’s commitment to developing academic programs based on scientific and research references from prestigious universities. He emphasized that the Faculty of Engineering has been in existence for about 26 years since its establishment and urged the heads of scientific departments to exert more effort to ensure the success of these programs. He called on the students to make efforts and strive to achieve excellent results.

Eng. Waheeb Ghanem, on behalf of the students enrolled in the postgraduate program at the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the university and the faculty for opening the Master’s program. He stated that this step will have a positive impact on fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the students to continue their higher education. They will exert their utmost efforts in conducting research and scientific studies to contribute to national growth and development. He expressed their thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the achievement of this program at the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Deputy Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, the faculty Secretary-General, staff members and their assistants, students, and the research students enrolled in the program at the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum.
