On the morning of Thursday, 13 November 2025, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology at Hadhramout University held the public defense of a Master’s thesis entitled:
“Evaluation of the Effects of Extracts of Green Tiger Shrimp Shells Against Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus Bacteria, and Aedes aegypti Mosquito Larvae,” submitted by researcher Maha Muqbel Saeed Bahhibah from the Department of Marine Biology.
The researcher defended her thesis before an examination committee composed of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Othman Al‑Amoudi (Chair and External Examiner – University of Seiyun), Dr. Jaafar Bin Omar Baomar (Internal Examiner – Hadhramout University), and Dr. Ahmed Ali Balqadi (Academic Supervisor – Hadhramout University).
At the beginning of the defense, the researcher presented an overview highlighting the importance of biologically active extracts as cost‑effective medical alternatives. She then outlined the objectives and methodology of the study, including sample collection, extraction methods, and the assessment of inhibitory activity against Streptococcus, Klebsiella bacteria, and mosquito larvae responsible for transmitting dengue fever.
The researcher also presented the key findings and recommendations of the study.
At the conclusion of the session, the thesis was approved after being enriched by scientific discussions and remarks from the examination committee, and the researcher was awarded the Master’s degree.
The defense was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Khaled Awadh Al‑Rubaki, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, Dr. Ahmed Aidhah Bin Ali Al‑Haj, along with a number of faculty members, students, interested attendees, and the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
