Marine Biology Department Organizes a Field Visit to the National Fish Packing and Canning Factory

The third and fourth year students, accompanied by a number of staff members and their assistants in the Department of Marine Biology organized on Thursday morning, June 23, 2022 a scientific visit to the National Fish Packing and Canning Factory to get acquainted with the stages of the production process of canned tuna and fish oil and powder.

They were received by Mr.  Ramy Shamsheer; the Human Resources Manager and Ms.  Amani Basaif, then they headed to the big hall of the factory to see an introductory video  about the components of the factory, the production capacity of each production unit, and the importance of the factory to society.

After that Ms. Rania Al-Gharabi and Ms.  Fatima Bafadhal accompanied the students to acquaint them with the production process of the canned tuna, and the fish oil and powder production unit, explaining the details of each production stage, and how to control the quality of the product in it. The students were also accompanied by the Head of the Marine Biology Department, Dr. Jaafar bin Omar Baomar, and Dr. Ahmed Ali Belkadi, and a number of assistant staff members. These activities come within the plans and programs of the Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology faculty to provide students with knowledge and experience, as well as  connecting the scientific side with the  practical side of  the labor market.
