Qualifiers Competing for HU Rewards in a Radio Broadcast and Chanting, 2018-2019

The Deputyship for Student Affairs, represented by the University Awards Committee for Creativity, carried out the qualification phase for  the university awards about (a radio broadcast – chanting) for the academic year 2019, under the auspice of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khanbesh, President of Hadhramaut University, in the hall of Ali Ahmed Ba-Katheer at HU presidency, by attending Prof. Abdullah Saleh Babaer. Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Salim Mubarak Al-Obthani, Dr. Salim Ghanem, Head of the Cultural Committee, and a number of  Deans of the faculties, their deputies, heads of the relevant committees, and Dr. Doa’a Salim Bawazeer, Head of the Press and Media Department, Member of the Jury. Ms. Afrah Mohammed Khan, Director General of the Mukalla Radio ,  Member of the jury, and Mr. Mohammed Anwar Abdul-Aziz, Head of the Artists Association in Hadhramout.

The ceremony started with reciting some verses of the Holy Quran, then the qualification phase started with eight students competing in the radio broadcast.

At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Abdullah Saleh Babaer conveyed the greetings of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khanbesh, President of the University, wishing for their activities to be met with success.

He pointed out that student activities, in addition to the interests of the university to disseminate a culture of quality and academic accreditation, and to develop academic programs are considered as  interlinked processes that go hand in hand at our university, and student activities are a group of (scientific conferences and creative, athletic activities), which create an incubator for students’ creativity, culture and energies, and they also discover students’ creativity. Thus, it is better for us as Leadership of the Univerisity to invest in young people through  generating academic, cultural, artistic and literary energies that make our students creative influencers in their communities.

On his part, Dr. Salim Mubarak Al-Obthani, Vice President for Student Affairs, delivered a speech reviewing the commitment of the deputyship for Student Affairs to activate all events and to highlight students’ creativity and talents in various fields.

He continued that HU added two awards: the award for the best idea to improve the student housing environment, and the award for the best idea in community services.  He also expressed his happiness that HU had provided this material and immaterial support through encouraging its students to highlight their hidden talents. He added that what set HU apart from other Yemeni and Arab universities was that  it has held the Scientific Conference for Student Researches for the fourth time. In fact, HU has done lots of cultural, literary, creative and artistic and athletic activities in spite of limited resources.

 

At the end of qualification phase, the first three winners were announced by the jury in each of the radio broadcast and chanting).
