This championship is organized as part of the activities of the Fifteenth University Student Week for the year 2026 and is funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). It is organized by Hadhramout University in partnership with the Youth Services Center–Hadhramout and the Youth Without Borders for Development Organization, in coordination with the Youth and Sports Office on the Hadhramout Coast. The championship will continue until April 23.

Eleven colleges from Hadhramout University are participating in the tournament, with each college represented by 12 male and female students, equally distributed between the two sports—Chess and Table Tennis (six participants per game, including both male and female players). The total number of participants has reached 132 students, who are currently competing at the championship venue.

The championship aims to promote sportsmanship and healthy competition among students, identify young talents in both mental and physical sports, and reinforce the university’s commitment to supporting extracurricular student activities.
