As part of its strong commitment to advancing higher education and strengthening international academic partnerships, Hadhramout University actively participated in the regular meeting of the MOVE Project partners, held recently via Zoom, with the participation of distinguished universities and academic institutions from Europe, Yemen, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The meeting commenced with welcoming remarks delivered by Ms. Silvia Marchioni, Project Coordinator and Director from the Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED), who welcomed the project partners and emphasized the importance of continuous coordination to ensure the timely implementation of project activities and the achievement of its strategic objectives aimed at bringing about a qualitative transformation in higher education outcomes.

The meeting included a comprehensive review of survey results and reports related to the project’s main work packages. Discussions covered project management and implementation monitoring, mechanisms for transferring financial allocations among partners, expenditure procedures to ensure transparency and efficiency, and progress achieved in implementing activities. Recommendations were also presented to address administrative and technical challenges. In addition, participants reviewed the second work package focusing on Higher Education and the Labor Market.

Discussions focused on evaluating the relationship between higher education institutions and labor market needs, particularly within the environmental and agricultural sectors. This work package aims to align academic programs with labor market requirements and enhance graduates’ employability by bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills.

The participants also reviewed communication and dissemination plans, including mechanisms for sharing project news and outcomes. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening media and promotional activities to highlight project achievements and maximize their impact at both local and international levels through consistent and professional outreach.

Partners’ Commitment to a Shared Vision

At the conclusion of the meeting, all partners reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and coordination to ensure the effective implementation of all project activities and the achievement of the project’s ambitious goals. These include the development of higher education institutions, institutional capacity building, the promotion of innovation, and the strengthening of partnerships between universities and various employment sectors.
