The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Hadhramout University has achieved significant progress in its journey toward obtaining national academic accreditation for the General Medicine and Surgery Program through reviewing and discussing the technical and professional observations related to the evaluation of its self-study report, and examining mechanisms for fulfilling the remaining requirements needed to enhance the program’s readiness and compliance with quality standards.

This progress was highlighted during a meeting held today at the office of the Director of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Aidhah Bahashwan, with a high-level delegation from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences led by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Saleh Awadh Bahoul. The delegation also included the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Adnan Bakarman, and the Vice Dean for Quality Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, in the presence of the Egyptian expert Mr. Ibrahim Sadeq, who was assigned to evaluate the program’s self-study report.

This important step comes as part of the requirements for obtaining national academic accreditation for the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Program from the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council for Higher Education in the Republic of Yemen.

The meeting featured extensive scientific and technical discussions on the progress made by the faculty in preparing the self-study documentation, as well as reviewing ways to address the observations raised and accurately implement quality standards to ensure the graduation of qualified medical professionals capable of meeting community expectations and the needs of local and regional labor markets.

It is worth noting that the visit aims to evaluate the self-study report of the General Medicine and Surgery Program, provide an independent assessment of the program’s readiness for academic accreditation, implement an intensive training program on academic accreditation, and strengthen the capacities of faculty members, teaching assistants, and administrative staff at the university.
