Under the patronage of Mr. Salem Ahmed Al‑Khanbashi, Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramout Governorate, and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, the Talib Al‑Ilm Care Association, in coordination with Hadhramout University, organized this morning a memorial ceremony honoring the late media figure Ahmed Zain Bamahmid. The ceremony was held at Ali Ahmed BaKathir Hall at the University Presidency and witnessed wide attendance from academic, media, and charitable sectors.

In his address, the President of Hadhramout University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash, announced that the University Council has approved naming the Radio Studio of the Department of Journalism and Media at the Faculty of Arts after the late Ahmed Zain Bamahmid, in commemoration of his legacy and in recognition of his professional and academic contributions.
He stated that the university has lost a distinguished academic and media figure who played a key role in establishing the Department of Journalism and Media at the Faculty of Arts. He praised the moral values, dedication, and professionalism of the late Ahmed Bamahmid, highlighting his contributions as an assistant faculty member in the department and as the former Director General of the University Media Administration.
Prof. Dr. Khinbash added that the late Bamahmid was not merely an academic cadre, but rather a fatherly mentor to his students and a role model of integrity and professional ethics. He concluded his speech by praying for mercy and forgiveness for the deceased and for patience and solace for his family and loved ones.

For his part, Eng. Wasim Rabihan, President of the Talib Al‑Ilm Care Association, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the charitable dimension of the late Bamahmid’s life. He described him as “a man for everyone,” noting that during his previous tenure as president of the association, the late Bamahmid exemplified humble leadership that consistently prioritized the interests of students.

In addition, Ali Ahmed Zain, son of the deceased, delivered a speech on behalf of the family, recounting significant milestones in his father’s life, from his early career in the health sector in Shabwah Governorate in 1983 to his later settlement in Al‑Mukalla. He spoke about his father’s courage in facing his chronic illness and affirmed that the family will continue to uphold the values and principles embodied by the late Ahmed Bamahmid.

The ceremony concluded with a panel discussion held on the BaKathir stage, featuring Prof. Dr. Abdullah Babair, Vice President of Hadhramout University for Academic Affairs; Eng. Wasim Rabihan, Secretary‑General of the Talib Al‑Ilm Association, and Mr. Abdullah Salem Bamahmid, a close relative of the deceased. The speakers reflected on key moments from the late Bamahmid’s life and his enduring contributions to education, media, and community service.


The memorial event was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Babair, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Dr. Salem Al‑Obathani, Vice President for Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Salem Salman, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs; Mr. Abdullah Eided, University Secretary‑General; several faculty deans and academic staff members; representatives of charitable organizations; as well as a large number of the deceased’s students, colleagues, family members, and admirers.
