The General Administration of Media at Hadhramout University, in partnership with the Arab Network for Fact-Checkers (ARIJ), and in cooperation with the University’s Student Training Center, has announced the organization of a specialized discussion session on fact-checking to be held tomorrow under the title “Towards Professional Media and Reliable Content.”

The session will be delivered by Mr. Ahmed Al-Ashwal, a member of the Arab Network for Fact-Checkers, and aims to empower participants with scientific methodologies for verifying information and combating digital misinformation. The program will focus on digital content analysis, source verification, and the use of open-source fact-checking tools in accordance with professional standards.

Scheduled to take place at the Student Training Center Hall, the session will also address mechanisms for detecting fake news and misleading narratives while emphasizing adherence to ethical and professional media standards. The discussion seeks to enhance participants’ critical thinking skills and strengthen their ability to assess the credibility of information in an era characterized by rapid information flow.

In this context, the Director of the Student Training Center, Prof. Dr. Nazeeha Al-Aidaroos, highlighted that the skill of verification has become the fundamental distinguishing factor between a professional journalist and a mere information transmitter in today’s media landscape. She stressed the importance of instilling accuracy and responsibility among emerging media professionals.

The session is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. and comes as part of Hadhramout University’s ongoing efforts to promote principles of accuracy, credibility, and professional integrity among the new generation of media practitioners.
