Hadhramout University to Host Fourth Training Course for External Reviewers of Academic Programs

The Fourth Training Course for External Reviewers of Academic Programs will commence tomorrow, Saturday, at Hadhramout University, with the participation of 40 trainees from universities in Hadhramaut, Aden, Shabwah, Al Mahrah, and Marib.

Prof. Abdullah Bahashwan, Director of the University’s Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, stated that the six-day course is organized by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the sponsorship and support of Hadhramout University. The course aims to prepare qualified professionals capable of conducting external reviews of academic programs in accordance with nationally approved standards.

Prof. Bahashwan explained that the course brings together 40 participants from universities across Hadhramaut, Aden, Shabwah, Al Mahrah, and Marib, providing them with specialized training in the principles and practices of external academic review.

He added that the program is designed to develop a pool of qualified experts in the external evaluation of academic programs at Yemeni universities, thereby contributing to the strengthening of academic accreditation and quality assurance systems and enhancing the effectiveness of external review processes in higher education institutions.

The opening ceremony will feature a speech on behalf of Hadhramout University delivered by Prof. Abdullah Babair, Vice President for Academic Affairs, along with remarks from the University’s Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance. Prof. Sawsan Bakhabirah, Chairperson of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council, will also deliver an address.

The opening addresses will emphasize the importance of the course in promoting a culture of academic quality and accreditation, while equipping external reviewers with the professional competencies and expertise required to evaluate academic programs in accordance with national standards.

The training program will also address its expected outcomes and its role in supporting the development of higher education, improving the quality of academic programs, and enhancing the overall performance and educational outcomes of Yemeni universities.
