Prof. Mohamed Saeed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, issued an administrative decision today appointing Prof. Atef Saleh Al-Tamimi as Dean of the Faculty of Open Education.

The decision was issued in accordance with the University’s operational and administrative requirements.

This appointment comes as part of Hadhramout University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen academic and administrative performance, enhance leadership structures across its faculties, improve the quality of educational services provided to students, and further advance the University’s open education system.

Prof. Atef Al-Tamimi is a Full Professor of Applied Linguistics and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Hadhramout University. He earned both his Master’s and PhD degrees from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

He possesses more than 17 years of academic and administrative experience, during which he has held several leadership positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Open Education, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, and Head of the Department of English.

His published research, comprising more than 18 scholarly papers, focuses on English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Needs Analysis, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in education.

Prof. Al-Tamimi has received several distinguished awards and recognitions, including the Best Doctoral Dissertation Award, the Excellence Shield from both the University and the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Distinguished Researcher Award. He has also been consistently ranked among the top researchers in Yemen and at Hadhramout University according to the AD Scientific Index for four consecutive years.
