Hadhramout University and the Cultural Attaché Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Cairo held an official meeting this morning via Zoom to discuss the status of the university’s sponsored students studying at Egyptian universities and to explore ways of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation and partnerships between Hadhramout University and its counterparts in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting brought together Prof. Dr. Salem Bamasoud, Vice President of Hadhramout University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Hadi Al‑Sabban, Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Yemen in Cairo.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Bamasoud welcomed the Cultural Attaché and participants, expressing the university’s appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the Cultural Attaché Office in following up on the affairs of Yemeni students and scholarship recipients studying at Egyptian universities. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between the university, the ministry, and the attaché office in order to support students and enhance their academic progress.
The meeting addressed a number of important academic issues, foremost among them the academic progress of Hadhramout University’s sponsored students in Egypt. Participants reviewed the students’ academic status and study pathways and stressed the importance of strengthening monitoring and academic coordination mechanisms to help them continue their studies regularly and complete their academic programs within the designated timeframes.
The participants also discussed nomination procedures for scholarships at Egyptian universities, reviewing available opportunities and mechanisms for nomination, as well as ways to enhance coordination between the university, the ministry, and the relevant authorities in Egypt to ensure that these opportunities are utilized in accordance with approved regulations and procedures.
The meeting further explored ways to strengthen and activate academic and scientific partnerships between Hadhramout University and Egyptian universities through expanding areas of joint cooperation and activating existing agreements and partnerships. These efforts include collaboration in graduate studies and scientific research, exchange of expertise and experiences, and mutual utilization of the academic and scientific capabilities available at both sides.
The importance of maintaining institutional communication and coordination between the university, the ministry, and the Cultural Attaché Office was also emphasized, along with joint efforts to address issues facing sponsored students, facilitate their academic procedures, and promote more effective scientific partnerships with Egyptian universities and educational institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research expressed his appreciation to all participants, reaffirming the university’s commitment to supporting its students studying abroad and strengthening its academic and scientific relations with Arab and international universities and institutions.
This meeting comes within the framework of Hadhramout University’s efforts to enhance institutional communication with Yemeni cultural attaché offices abroad, develop scholarship and graduate studies systems, and advance academic and scientific cooperation with universities and educational institutions in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting was attended by a number of specialists from the Cultural Attaché Office and Mr. Fahd Abdullah Al‑Tamimi, Director of Scholarships and Missions at Hadhramout University.
