Prof. Dr. Mohamed Khanbash, President of Hadhramout University, together with Dr. Murad Baalawi, Assistant Governor of Hadhramout for Youth Affairs and Civil Society Organizations, presided over the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and cooperation agreement between the Vice Presidency for Student Affairs at Hadhramout University and the Mazallah Foundation for Development.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the University by Prof. Dr. Salem Al-Obthani, Vice President for Student Affairs and Chairman of the Board of the Hadhramout University Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Support, while Mr. Muadh Mohammed Al-Shaibani, President of the Mazallah Foundation and Director of the Wathbah Investment Fund, signed on behalf of the Foundation.
The Memorandum aims to establish a strategic partnership between the University and a specialized civil society organization dedicated to entrepreneurship and youth empowerment. The collaboration will enable the Foundation to benefit from the University’s academic, research, and training capabilities, as well as its business incubators, while providing students with practical training and field-placement opportunities within private-sector institutions.
The agreement also designates the Hadhramout University Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Support as an implementing partner for the Foundation in Hadhramout, while recognizing the Mazallah Foundation as an implementing partner for the Center in Aden. This partnership is expected to expand opportunities and support mechanisms available to innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Following the signing ceremony, Dr. Baalawi conducted an inspection visit to the Hadhramout University Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Support, accompanied by University officials and representatives of the Mazallah Foundation. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Salem Mohammed Bin Salman, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs; Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Bin Shihab, Director General of the Center; and Mr. Muadh Al-Shaibani, President of the Foundation. The visit provided an opportunity to review the Center’s facilities and discuss practical mechanisms for translating the Memorandum’s provisions into training programs, entrepreneurial initiatives, and impactful projects.
During the visit, Dr. Baalawi commended this constructive partnership, emphasizing that youth empowerment remains a top priority of the local authority. He reaffirmed the commitment to providing all necessary support and facilitation for partnerships that contribute to enhancing students’ skills, aligning higher education outcomes with labor market requirements, and expanding opportunities in investment and entrepreneurship.
This Memorandum reflects Hadhramout University’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with development institutions and fostering an enabling environment for innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable youth development.
