The auditorium of Professor Ahmed Awad Bawazir, college of Arts, Hadhramout University witnessed the award of a master’s degree with distinction to a thesis presented by researcher Ahmed Issa Ahmed Al-Rumaili from the sons of Socotra tagged with “The sentence between Arabic and Socotra grammatical study.” Al-Rumaili researcher says:Since the Socotra language is one of the Semitic languages, I have tried hard to search for studies related to my field of research in Semitic languages, and I found a doctoral study from the Syrian University of Aleppo from the college of Arts and Humanities by researcher Sahar Lotfi Akkad entitled Sentence System in Semitic, Akkadian, Ugaritic and Hebrew languages, discussed in 2002 .” The study revealed the existence of agreement and difference between the Arabic and Socotra languages, and it counted more than one hundred fifty-eight issues and found that the two languages differ by more than seventy-eight issues, and they agree in the rest, and this gives an indication that the percentage of agreement is almost equal to the percentage of difference.

Prof Abdullah Saleh Babair, deputy President for Academic Affairs, said about this thesis that it “represents an addition to the science in which it is written, and it is the best example of the university’s function in producing scientific knowledge. The advantage of this thesis is that it searches in an unwritten language, a language that is vulnerable to extinction and will not be preserved.” Except for her children. Codification of such basic rules at the level of sentences or at the level of vocabulary is very useful in documenting characteristics.”

As for Dr. Hadi Salem Al-Sabban, Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies Affairs, he expressed his happiness with such a study, which examined a new topic that reveals a new field in the field of languages, especially since the Socotra language did not receive the attention it deserves from researchers.

Dean of the College of Education in Socotra, Dr. Saad Amer Ahmed Al-Daarahi, said, “We are happy to see one of the sons of Socotra and a member of the college discussing a scientific study in the college of Arts at the University of Hadramout. Especially since the thesis came in the field of the Socotra language, which is not written about much, that is why we, the sons of Socotra, seek To show this language to find areas and similarities between them and the Arabic language.”

The discussion committee consisted of Prof Abdulaziz Saeed Al-Sabih as Chairman and Supervisor, Associate Professor Fahmy Hassan Ahmed as an external debater at the University of Aden, and Assistant Professor Muhammad Ahmad Al-Asholi.
