Journalist researcher Yasser Ali Laddi obtained a master’s degree with distinction for his thesis (Al-Raed Al-Hadhrami Newspaper 1960-1964. An Analytical Study of Form and Content) submitted to the Department of Journalism and Media at the College of Arts with the recommendation to print it from the University of Aden on Monday morning January 14, 2019.The discussion committee – consisting of the head of the press and media department at the University of Aden, Dr. Muhammad Ali Nasser, Dr. Doaa Salem Bawazeer, an external debate, and Dr. Abdullah Awad Al-Haw, former head of the press and media department at the University of Aden, Scientific Supervisor – for the letter, which is considered one of the qualitative messages that are discussed in the Media Department at the University of Aden, praising the researcher’s effort to complete this thesis. The scientific study dealt with analyzing the contents of Al-Raed Al-Hadhrami newspaper, including news, articles, reports, investigations, etc., and the most prominent political, cultural, economic and sports issues that it dealt with throughout the period of its issuance, and the internal and external form of it was studied during the period of its publication.
The letter contained five chapters. In its first chapter, the research methodology was reviewed, and in its second chapter, the forms of journalistic writing defined by the newspaper and the media theories that it practiced in its coverage were dealt with. In the third chapter, educational, cultural and political trends were reviewed before the emergence of Al-Raed newspaper, and the press in Hadhramout and its legislations in the middle of the twentieth century. In the fourth chapter, the life of the newspaper’s founder, Mr. Hussein bin Muhammad al-Bar, was reviewed, who ended his life as a journalist defending values, calling for political freedom for all residents of Hadhramout during that period. The fifth chapter contained the analytical discussion of the study, and the researcher concluded his thesis with findings and recommendations.
